Clint Eastwood has signed on to direct a biopic about the first director of the FBI, J. Edgar Hoover. Hoover was made famous by busting up gangsters, spying on radicals, gathering intelligence on the Soviets, and dressing in ladies clothes around his office.
Hoover is credited with building the FBI into a large and efficient crime-fighting agency, and with bringing modern innovations to police technology, such as a centralized fingerprint file and forensic laboratories.
Late in life, and after his death, Hoover became a controversial figure, some accused him of exceeding the jurisdiction of the FBI. He used the FBI to harass political dissenters and activists and to collect evidence using illegal methods.
Clint Eastwood is a great director and this biopic has a lot of weight and great history behind it and could make an excellent movie.
