I think that Hollywood announces at least 10 remakes a week recently and the latest one is the 1989 family comedy “Honey, I Shrunk The Kids”. The original spawned a series of spin-offs and sequels for The Walt Disney Company and is getting the remake treatment in the form of re-imagination. The remake is in preproduction with an all new cast, since Rick Moranis is ‘retired’.
The first sequel, “Honey, I Blew Up the Kid”, came out in 1994. Disney created a 3D attraction called “Honey, I Shrunk the Audience” at Epcot in Disney World later the same year. In 1997, “Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves” was released direct to video starring Moranis again and a young Mila Kunis. Lastly, the animated “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show” aired on The Disney Channel from 1997 to 2000.
This is one remake is hope that never comes to fruition. The first movie was great, everything after……..not so much. Leave this movie series where Rick Moranis is RETIRED!!!!
