Jennifer Lopez is set to star in the remake of 1987 comedy “Overboard” for Sony Pictures.
The original starred Goldie Hawn as Joanna, the pampered wife of a socialite, who falls off her yacht and develops amnesia. Kurt Russell played Dean Proffitt, a carpenter and single father of four whom Joanna stiffed on a job. In order to extract revenge, Dean convinces Joanna she is his wife and mother of his children, turning her basically into their maid.
Will Smith and James Lassiter are producing. The screenplay is being written by Adam Cooper, Bill Collage and the original film’s creator, Leslie Dixon (“Mrs. Doubtfire,” “Hairspray”).
