McFarlane is hoping for indie “Spawn” Movie

Todd McFarlane is talking up the “Spawn” reboot, again. There has been talks since 1997. This time he is focusing his effort to secure a small independent studio.

The Spawn creator spoke with MTV at last month’s Toy Fair International convention, clarifying his plans for the film:

“I’ve done my due diligence. I’ve gone to the big studios, I’ve heard their pitch, [and] I’ve heard what they can offer. I’ve talked to the smaller guys and I’ve given what I want, and I just don’t think I can be satisfied with something at the big boys. [Large studios] can offer a big budget, big stars, and probably make a lot more money, but I just think that story-wise I’m going to be a little dissatisfied.”

I think that the low budget and small studio is the way to go for this reboot. The focusing on the storyline is what made the HBO animated series so amazing. McFarlane believe that he can made the movie for $10 million. If the film is made dark, low budget and story focused it will definitely be kick-ass and a good change from all the superhero ridiculous budget movies (i.e. Spider-Man 3: $258 million = Crap).
