Two new movies that are being remade have been announced this morning:
The first being “Pet Semetary”, Matthew Greenberg, who wrote the Stephen King’s “1408,” is currently writing this remake and heading back to King territory. Lorenzo di Bonaventura boarded on as a producer of this project, the film is set up at Paramount. Steven Schneider also is producing. Paramount brought the 1983 book to life in 1989, with a feature version adapted by King that starred Dale Midkiff, Denise Crosby and Fred Gwynne.
The next is “Police Academy”, in which New Line is looking to relaunch the series. Original producer Paul Maslansky is back for the remake, which has no writer or director attached. The original “Police Academy” series spanned over seven films and the franchise took in about $240 million worldwide and inspired a pair of TV series. The producer is looking to discover new talent and fill the movie with great comedians.
