“Snubbed By Oscar” Contest Winners Named!

We had some great submissions in our “Oscar Snubbed Them” contest:

Matthew Drinnenberg felt Roy Scheider needed to feel the love for “Jaws.” He also couldn’t accept Tommy Lee Jones winning for “The Fugitive” while Harrison Ford went unnoticed. He had similar feelings for Robin Williams getting noticed for “The Fisher King” but not Jeff Bridges.

Even though he was nominated for Best Actor last year, Jonathan Lawton thought Mickey Rourke should have taken home the Oscar instead of Sean Penn. Jonathan also felt the John Travolta/Joaquin Phoenix film “Ladder 49″ should have nabbed a best picture nod.

Jake Gove had a name in all four acting categories. For Best Actor and Actress, Jake felt John Cusack (“High Fidelity”) and Holly Hunter (“Living Out Loud”) were overlooked. On the supporting side, he wishes Reese Witherspoon (“Election”) and Robert Shaw (“Jaws”) had made the cut.

At MovieMikes, Mike S. gladly jumps on the “Jaws” bandwagon and not only goes with Scheider and Shaw but director Steven Spielberg as well. Other notable snubs in his book:
Eric Roberts in “Star 80″
Mickey Rourke in “Angel Heart”
Val Kilmer in “The Doors”

Congratulations Matthew, Jonathan and Jake…you’ve won some cool movie swag. Drop us a line under the “Contact Us” tab and send us your address. Thanks for sharing.
