The video game adaptation of “Spy Hunter” has been in development it seems forever. The film based on Midway’s video game franchise, started in 1983 classic which last saw a release in 2006 with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for the Playstation 2. Before and after the release of the video game the purposed movie has been in talks and nothing ever happened. Modeled after a 1983 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, the real star of the franchise is known as the G-6155 Interceptor, the ultimate spy car was outfitted with weapons to fight bad guys.
Besides the The Rock who was once attached, no longer, John Woo and Paul W.S. Anderson, were once attached to direct but neither is longer involved.
Warner Bros. acquired Midway games last year and now is finally moving forward on the project with Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes) and Roy Lee (Soldiers of Forever) producing and Chad St. John (Sgt. Rock) tapped to pen the script.
I imagine they’ll keep the cool concept design of the car as you can see below from the cover of the most recent game in the series (feat. Dwayne Johnson). As for how will star, Sam Worthington’s name will pop up in rumors and the film will no doubt come in 3D.
