Tyler Perry revealed last night at the premiere for “Why Did I Get Married Too?” that Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Jurnee Smollett, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington, and Macy Gray will star in his next dramedy, “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf”. Say that title 10 times fast!
The film is based on Ntozake Shange’s award-winning 1975 play, and it is scheduled to start shooting this June in New York for a January 14, 2011 release. The play consists of a series of poems performed through a cast of nameless women, known only by a color. It deals with such subjects as love, abandonment, rape, and abortion.
