my favorite folk hero was john Henry…how could you not be inspired by his spirit of man vs machine …the man took on a steam machine and out performed it but paid the ultimate price by dying in the end…now if we’re talking films it would have to be Tarzan…how cool was it that all the animals would help him

  2. Jonathan Lawton says:

I have a couple of favorites…..Wyatt Earp…Eliot Ness…Billy the Kid. Out of the three it would be Wyatt Earp, who doesn’t like good gun slinger.

  3. Andrew says:

William Wallace. Unfortunately he suffered an ultimate fate. He was hanged, drawn and quartered — strangled by hanging but released while he was still alive, eviscerated and his bowels burnt before him, beheaded, then cut into four parts.

Although he met his demise in one of the worse possible ways, he should be remembered as a Patriot and a powerful and skilled warrior who helped lead Scottish Forces into battle against the English Army.

  4. Chris Carbaugh says:

My favorite folk hero was Billy the kid. It was always fun watching the Young Guns movies growing up. I loved the Regulators and Billy’s cool cat attitude!

    Chris…you are so funny

  6. Jim says:

My favorite folk hero would be Wyatt Earp. I am a huge fan of western movies and tv shows. Burt Lancaster did a wonderful job of portraying him and so did Kurt Russell.

I like the story of Robin Hood. I just saw this Russel Crowe version. It was okay. My favorite would still be the Disney’s cartoon! Thanks!!!

  8. Greg says:

I would have to agree with Chris, my favorite folk hero was Billy the Kid. My favorite movie about the famed outlaw was the ‘Young Guns’ movies. Emilio Estevez, as Billy the Kid, was a perfect fit – at least in my opinion. Historically, the movie took a lot of liberties, but, still very enjoyable.

  9. Dakota says:

my favorite folk hero is jesse james. because he is the most famous gunslinging outlaw of all times. Tyrone power did a wonderful job portrayin jesse. it is my all time favorite folk hero movie.

  10. Ian says:

I like Paul Bunyan. I think it would be great to see a movie about him and his life. I think there could be some very interesting tales about him.

  11. Jace Reading says:

My Favorite Folk Hero is and will always be… Robin Hood! My Favorite Robin Hood film would have to be the new 2010 movie starring Russel Crowe, Cate Blanchett and William Hurt. I say that every era gets the Robin Hood it needs! We got ours! I Loved the Whistling arrows and flashing swords take their tolls, and fans of “Gladiator”(like me) know Ridley Scott is never hesitant to splash blood. Yet it explains complicated politics clearly and positions Robin as the first truly modern hero, a clear head and a calm hand with a bow. It was Totally Unique!!! The story you may know from other versions is almost unrecognizable. The sheriff of Nottingham barely turns up. Nobody lives in Sherwood Forest, and the rich do all the robbing here. Loved It!!!!! :-)
