The nearly complete manuscript for “What Pet Should I Get?” had languished for more than 20 years after Seuss, whose real name was Theodor Geisel, died in 1991. In 2013, Geisel’s wife, Audrey, and his friend and secretary Claudia Prescott re-discovered the work, complete with black-and-white illustrations, while they were cleaning out the author and illustrator’s office space, according to a press release. The book also features the same characters from Seuss’s “One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.”

  1. My favorite Dr. Seuss book is Green Eggs and Ham! I remember in Elementary School there would be a day when they’d serve it for breakfast. It was so cool! Thank you so much for the opportunity! I would love to share this book with my god daughter. She’s starting pre-K this fall and she’s so excited!

  2. Green Eggs and Ham, me and my friend in high school were waiting in a Dr’s office lobby for his girl friend and we were reading it aloud to each other rather loudly …. we were goofy high schoolers for sure and got many an odd look.

  3. My favorite Suess book is “The Cat in The Hat”….remember reading it as a child.

  4. I met Dr Suess in Columbus at a book signing. In the few seconds we talked I so what a kind caring man he was. My favorite book of his is his ABC book. My husband and I learned it and recited it many times by memory to our young children.
