How to write a script for a movie

Writing a screenplay: How to tell your story right

Writing is the art and should be taken seriously: from a school research paper to a movie script, it requires attention, effort, creativity and following the rules in order to tell a great story. If writing is not your cup of tea, you may always find help at writingpapersucks.com choosing a service based on feedback and reviews. However, writing is a great and necessary skill that can help you throughout your life and daily activities or even become your hobby. In this article, we will talk about writing a movie script and observe the main aspects of this process. Enjoy!

The key aspects of writing a movie script

The common problem for all scriptwriters is having a good idea but at the same time lack of creativity to develop it in something bigger. There are evergreen topics like vampires living among people, lovers hiding from their angry parents or a poor guy that becomes a millionaire so if you are planning to write about similar subjects, you do need something outstanding. In fact, even a simple idea can be successful if described the right way you only need to make it unpredictable and catchy.

There are key ways to take into account working on your concept:

·         Be a viewer. You are in the cinema. What would you like to see? What scenes can surprise you? What kind of plot twist can make you experience the strongest emotions and tension? Knowing your audience, you can come up with the story that has a chance to blow up their minds;

·         Take your initial idea. Then research through similar movies trying to find ways to make it more original. Maybe some extra conflicts or unexpected events can change the situation;

·         Read the scripts written by professionals to learn from them and see how they implemented their ideas. The more examples you see, the better will be your own one;

·         Write an outline before the script. This little plan can help you follow the story and not miss any important details or sequence when describing events and characters;

·         Get feedback. How good are your logline and treatment? Make a brief pitch and tell about your movie your friends and family. Does your plot have any holes?

·         Add a character arc. Sometimes to open up a certain personality and show how it changes, we need more than a few movie scenes. Does a person go out of their comfort zone and how? Are the characters surprised at what is going on in the movie?

·         Learn how to build dialogues. What do you know about verbal battles? Who will win in yours? The right building of dialogues is another section in the art of writing;

·         Dig deeply into each scene. Does it meet the audience`s expectations? Each scene should be ended with a moment when the question is hanging in the air and when your viewers try to guess what happens next;

·         Shake up situations and locations. Places should not be predictable, so try to research this aspect as well.

There is no universal solution to writing a movie script, only recommendations, reading through examples and your creativity. Push your imagination as far as possible and don`t fall into the trap of just learning some of the scriptwriting theory and considering yourself a professional. Practice makes perfect.

EXCLUSIVE BREAKING NEWS: Ralph Bakshi announces “Wizards 2” script is in the works!

Media Mikes had a chance to chat with Ralph Bakshi this afternoon and he was nice enough to leak us a very exclusive tip. According to Bakshi, there is a script in the works currently for a sequel to his 1977 film “Wizards”.

Here is a quote from Bakshi in our upcoming interview:
“Right now, the head of Dark Horse Comics, Mike Richardson, is writing a script for “Wizards 2″. He and his partner are writing the script and he is very interested in making the movie.  I feel that Dark Horse is really the right team in order to get this project done.”

Bakshi addressed his intentions once the script is done:
“I will definitely read it once it is completed but I doubt I will direct, probably executive produce. I would also contribute storyboards and sketches for the film if needed. In order for it to work though, I feel that it has to also be political important with what is going on today.”

Stay tuned to Media Mikes for more breaking news on “Wizards 2”. We are also trying to get a quote from Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and we suggest to you to reach out to Dark Horse as well at dhcomics@darkhorse.com and let them know you want “Wizards 2”.  Our full interview with Bakshi will go live next week.
